The Lambda Chapter of Phi Delta Chi is a national and professional co-educational fraternity at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy.
Since 1883, Phi Delta Chi has worked to advance the profession of pharmacy and its allied interests, and to foster and promote a fraternal spirit among our Brothers. PDC is a lifelong experience and promotes scholastic, professional, and social growth in its Brothers. Across the nation, Phi Delta Chi has chartered over 60 active chapters and has had over 40,000 cross into our Brotherhood.
About
We live by our motto, "Alterum Alterius Auxilio Eget" meaning, "Each needs the help of the other."
St. Jude
It is apparent that Phi Delta Chi Lambda Chapter takes great pride in raising money and helping the children and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In just the past 3 years, we helped raise almost $6,000. St. Jude was founded in 1962 by the late entertainer Danny Thomas with the hopes of providing a hospital where children from all over the world, no matter what race, religion, or financial status, could come for their cancer treatment. Through generous donations over the past forty years, St. Jude has been able to develop protocols that have helped push overall childhood cancer survival rates from less than 20 percent, to over 80 percent. Each year, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital treats an average of 5,700 patients - all of which have their treatments completely paid for through donations made to St. Jude.
In August 2007, the brothers of Phi Delta Chi made the commitment to raise $200,000 over four years. We achieved this goal in April 2009 and had the honor of having St. Jude's outpatient pharmacy named after Phi Delta Chi. Druing the 67th Grand council this past summer, Phi Delta Chi voted to continue to support St. Jude Children's Research hospital to raise $1,000,000 in the next ten years. The University of Texas Lambda chapter of Phi Delta Chi is proud to be one of the strongest fund raising chapters and will continue to raise money for St. Jude this coming year through The Prescription for Hope campaign, Rock out for Cancer, and much more.
