About Us

Chapter History

The Lambda chapter of Phi Chi was founded in 1905 at the University of Texas College of Pharmacy, then located in Galveston, Texas. When our fraternity changed it's name to Phi Delta Chi four years later, Lambda was already becoming very popular among the rapidly growing college of pharmacy program.

In 1927, Lambda relocated as the board of regents of the University of Texas relocated the College of Pharmacy to the Austin, Texas campus.

While Lambda has been based out of Austin ever since, we are proud to have brothers actively engaged in our fraternity at the UT college of pharmacy's various distance sites including San Antonio and El Paso.

National History

On November 2, 1883, in Ann Arbor Michigan, a group of 11 men, each students at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, realizing a need for an association of professional students in the field of pharmacy and chemistry, founded the Phi Chi pharmacy fraternity.

A change in the Fraternity’s name to Phi Delta Chi occurred in 1909 after conflict with a pre-existing medical Fraternity. Phi Delta Chi was established on strong ideals of service, scholastic development, and professionalism.

Phi Delta Chi’s objective is to advance the science of pharmacy and promote a fraternal spirit among its Brothers. Phi Delta Chi’s endurance, since its inception, is due to unwavering national and local traditions which have been passed down from generation to generation of Brothers.

Prospective Brothers learn the principles and precepts of the Fraternity and embody them throughout their lives as contributing members of the pharmacy community
